Sometimes your living room and your office are one in the same. But, that doesn’t mean you have to work from the couch, and use a TV tray as your desk.
When we lived in Chicago, our one-bedroom apartment was tiny, and we had to get pretty creative to figure out how we each could have a full workspace. After many trips to Ikea and lots of patience, we eventually found a solution that worked. We created Justin’s “office” in the living room, and my “office” was tucked away in a cozy nook in front of our bedroom window.
Since then, I’m always on the lookout for functional small-space designs. I was so happy to find this one, and it’s in our old Chicago stomping grounds, Hyde Park! Fashion stylist and blogger, Dee Dee, lives in a studio apartment, and her small office area is just perfect. Take a look…
Dee Dee’s advice for studio living and how to make the best of a small space:
Since it’s just me, it really works. I do my best to create and utilize different zones in my space. I can move around which is great. Work at my desk, hang and lounge on the couch with a cocktail from my bar area and then get a good night’s rest on my daybed–all within one room! My goal was definitely fashion and function. I wanted my space to not only look great but to also be completely liveable, and I think that was definitely accomplished with the makeover.
